Donate a kidney, give life!

Have you ever thought about donating a kidney? Did you know that it is the easiest organ to donate?

Donating a kidney during one's lifetime is more common than one might think.

The donor can resume normal activities after 6 to 8 weeks, and the recipient gets their life back.

Bruno will need a kidney from a type O donor, negative or positive.

We don't know when the transplant will take place, but it will be sometime between 2026 and 2028. Because we don't know when, we are fortunate to have a little time. And we need everyone's help to find a compatible donor between now and then.

If you are considering donating and your blood type is O, please contact the McGill University Health Center (MUHC) transplant team located in Montréal at 514-843-2240, option 7, or write to pretransplant.hrv@muhc.mcgill.ca.

Whether you are considering donating or not, please share this site with your networks!

THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts.

Bruno, it’s me!

I have polycystic kidney disease, which is hereditary. I've had severe kidney failure for several years, and unfortunately, my kidneys are gradually.

My kidneys are currently functioning at about 19%. In the not-too-distant future, when my kidney function drops to 15%, I will need a kidney transplant.  Ideally, I would like to receive it from a living donor because of the immense benefits this provides. And ideally before I have to start dialysis treatment.

So I am starting this process to find a living donor. Compatibility testing can take a long time, so it's best to get a head start!

My passion

I have always been an athlete, and after running on roads for years, I discovered trail running. I started doing Ultra-Trail races—50, 80, and 100 km trail runs in Quebec and Europe. It's been great training and an amazing experience in nature. And there's a supportive community. My girlfriend calls me her Coureur des bois (Woods Runner), which suits me just fine!

My happiness

Nothing more to say! I am happy and I want to continue sharing this happiness with Lucie and everyone else!

In October, we received the test results, which unfortunately confirmed that Lucie could not donate a kidney to me directly. We are continuing with the process for a cross-donation, but a direct donation would be ideal. Hence our appeal to all people with blood type O!

Nathalie, my sister, transplant recipient and in good health

This year we are celebrating the 20th anniversary of my sister Nathalie's kidney transplant. Our family is immensely grateful to Mado, who donated one of her kidneys to Nathalie in 2005. This generous gesture gave my sister a second chance at

« How lucky I am! Being 100% compatible with Nathalie, I was able to proudly donate my kidney. The support and admiration of my dear husband Bill and my two beloved children made this experience positive and very rewarding.

I put my life on hold for a few months, and today, 20 years later, Nathalie is still doing well, and so am I.

I have remained healthy and am in great shape. I am lucky to be a grandmother to five beautiful grandchildren who keep me active and fill me with happiness. I walk a lot, play pickleball, do yoga, and sometimes dance. I have never felt a decrease in energy or limitations that have prevented me from pursuing my projects. This experience has filled me with happiness, and if I had to do it again, I would not hesitate to relive this. »

Nathalie’s family

The transplant Nathalie received has given her twenty years of joy and happiness with her husband and their two children, whom I adore!

I share my life with Lucie and her grown daughter Amanda, who makes us happy by visiting us often and keeping us up to date on current social issues!
